[13 : 12] 除非一個民族改變他們內心狀態,安拉絕不會改變他們的情況。 Allah changes not the condition of a people until they change that which is in their hearts.
人們的任何善行,都是其親屬們有意的或無意的幫助和協助的結果,因此使他們都能共享其所獲得的獎賞。
心若是紀念安拉,則將會得到滿足。
It's in the remembrance of Allah that hearts can find comfort
[13: 40] 安拉消除其所意欲的,確立其所意欲的。他是一切命令的決定者。
Allah effaces what He wills and established what He wills, and with Him is the source of all commandments.
只有安拉知道所有命令的根本原因以及其所隱含的智慧,伊斯蘭教典的所有命令都以安拉的常德為根據,因此安拉是律令的本源。
[12 : 5] 要記著那個時候,尤素夫對他的父親說:「我的父親啊!我的確夢見十一顆星,太陽和月亮,我夢見他們向我叩頭。」
Remember the time when Yusuf(Joseph) said to his father, "O my father, i saw in a dream eleven stars and the sun and the moon, i saw them making obeisance to me."
[12 : 54] 我不自行辯白無罪,除我養主所慈憫的人以外,心靈是易於令人為惡的。我的養主卻是至為寬恕的,永久仁慈的。
And I do not absolve myself of weakness; for, the soul is surely prone to enjoin evil, save that whereon my Lord has mercy. Surely, my Lord is Most Forgiving, Merciful.
[12 : 77] 在每一個有知識者的上面都還有一個更有知識的。 Over every possessor of knowledge is One, Most-Knowing.
[12 : 87] 他回答說:「我僅向安拉申訴我的憂患和悲傷。我從安拉那裡知道你們不知道的。」
He replied, "I only complain of my sorrow and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you know not."
[12 : 88] 不要對安拉的仁慈絕望,除開不信的人,沒有人對安拉的仁慈是絕望的。 Despair not of the mercy of Allah; for none despairs of Allah's mercy save the unbelieving people.
[11 : 2] 這是一部確定、完善而詳明的經典,這是明哲、洞悉的安拉下降的。 This is a Book whose verses have been made unchangeable and then they have been expounded in detail. it is from One Wise, and All-Aware.
[11 : 4] 你們要向自己的養主祈求寬恕,並要真誠地歸向他,他將好好地供應你們必需品,直到一個固定的時期。他將賜與慈惠給每一個具有良好品性的人。
And that you seek forgiveness of your Lord, and then turn to Him. He will provide for you a goodly provision until an appointed term. And He will grant His grace to every one possessed of merit.
這節經文表明,悔改這個階段,在人類精神發展過程中,出現在祈求寬恕之後,必且高於後者。悔改是對過去罪惡的不良結果,祈求安拉的保護之後,虔誠並全心全意歸向安拉。
[11 : 8] 他(安拉)的帝位奠立在水上。(His throne rests on water.)
【古蘭經】反復地把水描寫成一切生命的源泉:
(a) 不信者難道未曾看到天地原是一個牢固密閉的體積,然後我把它倆鑿開,我以水創造每一個有生命的東西,難道他們還不信仰我? [21 : 31] (Do not the disbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were a closed-up mass, then We opened them out? AndWe made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?)
(b) 他以水創造了人,然而又為他做了血親和姻親。你的養主是全力的。[25 : 55] (And he it is Who has created man from water, and has made for him kindred by descent and kindred by marriage; and thy Lord is all-Powerful.)
(c) 我將對他們說:我沒有以一個不足道的液體精液創造了你們。[77 : 21] (Did We not create you from an insignificantfluid.)
(d) 他是用射出的液體而受造的。[86 : 7] (He is created from a gushing fluid.)
[11 : 117] 為什麼在你之前的世代中,有理解力的人,除開我所拯救的少數人,都不勸阻人們在大地上製造混亂?不義的人貪圖受賜的豐足和佳美的物品,以致成為犯罪的人。
Why, then, were there not among the generations before you persons possessed of understanding who would have forbidden corruption in the earth—except a few of those whom We saved from among them? But the wrongdoers followed that by which they were afforded ease and comfort, and they became guilty.
[11 : 119-120] 如果安拉強行自己的意志,那麼,他必使整個人類形成一個團體,因為他未曾這樣做,而讓他們運用自己的理智,所以他們常有分歧。但你的養主所施行仁慈的人是例外,他就是為了向他們施行仁慈,才創造了他們。
And if thy Lord had enforced His will, He would have surely made mankind one people; but they would not cease to differ, save those on whom thy Lord has had mercy, and for this has He created them.
[11 : 121] 我為了堅定你的心,向你敘述使者們的一切重要消息。這章的真理、勸告,和幫助信仰者記憶的東西也都降臨你了。
And all of the tidings of the Messengers, whereby We make thy heart firm, We relate unto thee. And herein has come to thee the truth and an exhortation and a reminder for believers.
[10 : 17] 在這以前,我在你們中已度過了一個很長的時間。
I have indeed lived among you a whole lifetime before this.
這節經文概括了一種絕對正確的標準,以檢驗先知品位宣稱的真理。如果,一位先知在宣稱先知品位之前,其生活的道德標準是非常非常高的,而且,在那個時期,和他宣稱先知品位之間的一段時間內,他崇高而完美的道德標準未曾降低過,那麼,他對先知品位的宣稱,必須以一個高度誠實和有道德的人而被接受承認。很自然,一個人通過習慣或個性,在一個一定長的行為過程中得到了證實,花了一段很長的時間在他身上形成一種或者向好的或是向壞的方面發展的主要變化,那麼,伊斯蘭教的先知,在他宣稱先知品位以前的一生中一直是一個極為正直的人,如何能突然變成一個騙子呢?
[10 : 18] 而且你們說:誰比藉安拉之名捏造謊言,或誣罔他的跡象是假象的人還不公平呢?罪人一定不會成功的。
who is then more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah or he who treats His signs as lies? Surely, the guilty shall never prosper.
這節經文闡明兩個永恆真理:
(1) 捏造有關安拉的謊言,以及拒絕或反對他的詩這得那些人,從來也逃不過安拉的懲罰。
(2) 騙子和假的先知的活動不會成功。
Say, "Who provides sustenance for you from the heaven and the earth? Or who is it that has power over the ears and the eyes?And who brings forth the living from the dead and brings the dead out of living? And who governs all affairs?" They will say, "Allah" [10 : 32]
這節經文存在著一種優美而明智的順序。首先談到保存肉體生活所需的一切供給,然後談到獲得智慧和知識的器官:視覺和聽覺,接著談到生與死的規律,指出人類在獲得智慧和理解後,自然會引起對行為的激發作用。最後,它談及當一個人在開始行動之後,會面對支配和管理事務的問題。簡言之,為達到人類生活目的所必須的肆種手段,在這節經文依其自然的順序都談到了。
[10 : 35] 你向他們說:「你們所樹立的與安拉同等的崇拜對象中,有誰能創造萬物而又再造它們呢?」你對他們說:「只有安拉能創造萬物,繼而又再造它們。」
Say, "Is there any of your associate-gods who originates creation and then reproduces it?" Say,It is Allah alone Who originates creation and then reproduces it.
[10 : 38] 這部 【古蘭經】不可能不是安拉的經典而是由誰捏造的,而且,它證實其以前安拉的言語,具備安拉經典所應有的解釋。這無儀式降自眾世界的養主的。
And this Qur'an is not such as might be devised by any one except Allah. On the contrary, it fulfills that which is before it and is an exposition of the law of God. There is no doubt about it. it is from the Lord of the worlds.
[10 : 46] 那一天他在這樣狀況下集合他們,他們將覺得好像他們在世界上只度過日子的一段時間罷了。
And on the day when He will gather them together, it will appear to them as though they had not tarried in the world save for an hour of a day.
【古蘭經】中有幾次談到不信道的人,在這世界上彷彿只度過如同一日的短暫時間,這是指因為他們全神貫注在俗世事務及虛無的追求中,即使他們可能活了許多年,但彷彿他們在這世界上只活了一年,其中含有譴責之意。
[10 : 48] 每一民族都必有一個使者。當他們的使者蒞臨他們,他們就要受公平的判決,他們將不受任何虧待。
And for every people there is a messenger. So when their Messenger comes, it is judged between them with equity, and they are not wronged.
[10 : 50] 你對他們說:「除非是安拉的意願,我甚至不掌握自己的利害:每一個民族受懲的時間都是固定了的。當他們受懲的定期到來時,他們不能停留來在定期之前一小時而免除懲戒,也不能越過定期而逃避刑罰。」
Say,"I have no power for myself over any harm or benefit, save that Which Allah wills. For every disbelieving people there is an appointed term. When their term is come, they cannot remain behind a single moment, nor can they get ahead of it."
[10 : 58] 人類啊!你們的養主業以降給你們這樣的一本經典,它完全是個勸告,是對心胸中一切疾病的治療,也是對信仰者的指導和仁慈。
O mankind! There has indeed come to you an exhortation from your Lord and a cure for whatever disease there is in the hearts, and a guidance and a mercy to the believers.
[10 : 62] 無論你處理什麼事務,無論你閱讀任何一段 【古蘭經】經文,無論你們做任何其它工作,在任何情況下,當你全神貫注於你們的工作時,我總是你們的見證者。天地間任何一個微粒的重量都不可從你的養主視線中隱蔽起來。不管比那微粒小或大的東西,都將記載在彰明一切真相的天經中。
And thou art not engaged in anything, and thou recitest not from Him any portion of the Qur'an, and you do no work, but We are witnesses of you when you are engrossed therein. And there is not hidden from thy lord even an atom's weight in the earth or in heaven. And there is nothing smaller than that or greater, but it is recorded in a clear Book.
[10 : 63] 聽著!凡真正熱愛安拉者,他們將沒有恐懼,也沒有憂愁。
Behold!The friends of Allah shall certainly have no fear, nor shall they grieve.
[10 : 73] 我未曾向你們要任何報酬,我的報酬只在安拉那裡。
I have not asked of you any reward. My reward is with Allah alone.
一般人反對安拉所派遣的那些先知,說他們是為了謀求對他們同胞的支配地位。他們舉起反對現存事物秩序的大旗,為的是建立一個由他們所領導的新秩序。 這節經文駁斥的正是這種沒有根據的指責,安拉派遣的先知,從來不謀求提高自己的地位和權勢,相反地,他們選擇了受苦和服務的道路。可是那些享要信仰伊斯蘭教的人們的敵人卻說,「你來我們這裡,是為了使我們離開我們祖先的宗教,並使你倆在國內獲得高貴地位。」(10 : 79)
[10 : 83] 即使罪犯不喜歡這件事情,安拉也要以其言語建立真理。
AndAllah establishes the truth by His words, even through the sinners be averse to it.
[10 : 85] 穆撒對他的民族說:「我的族人啊!假如你們的確信仰了安拉,假如你們真正順從了他,那麼,你們就要相信他。」
And Musa(Moses) said, "O my people,if you have believed in Allah, then in Him put thy trust, if thou indeed submit to His will."
Iman意指精神的順從,Islam意思是外形的服從。內心信仰必須隨之在信者的行動上,有真正可見的改變。
[10 : 93] 今天我只保全你的身體,好叫你為你後來的人做一個跡象。確實,多數人都不注意我的跡象。
So this day We will save thee in thy body alone that thou mayest be a Sign to those who come after thee. And surely, many of mankind are heedless of Our Signs.
該節經文值得注意的是,在所有宗教經典和歷史書籍中,只有在【古蘭經】裡談到這個事實,聖經中沒有談到過它,任何歷史書籍也沒有談過它,但是,安拉的言語是何等奇妙地正確啊!時光流逝了三千多年以後,發現了法老的屍體。現在他的屍體保存在開羅的博物館內。那個屍體表明法老是一個瘦的、身材不高的人,面貌上顯現出忿怒和愚蠢的神情。穆撒生在Rameses二世時代而且由他撫養成人,可是在他擔任先知傳教活動時世在Rameses二世的兒子Merneptah王朝。
[10 : 100] 如果你的養主在宗教信仰中強行自己的意志,那麼,凡是在大地上的人,都必信仰。當安拉還不施行強迫,難道你要強迫人們做信仰嗎?
And if thy Lord had enforced His will, surely, all who are on the earth would have believed together. Wilt thou the, force men to become believers?
從這節經文中,可以毫不懷疑地看出,伊斯蘭教不容許獲鼓勵使用強迫的方式來宣傳他的教義。正如第二章第197節所述,「在宗教中任何一種強迫都是非法的,因為正道與邪途業已分明。」
[10 : 101] 安拉是對有理智而不運用的人下降他的怒氣。
Allah makes His wrath descend on those who will not use their reason.
[10 : 110] 你要遵循你所受的啟示,而且要堅定不移,直到安拉做出他的判決。他是最好的判決者。
And follow that which is revealed to thee and be steadfast until Allah give His judgment. And He is the Best of judges.
[8 : 2] 使者啊!他們問你關於戰利品,你對他們說:「戰利品是安拉和他的使者的。」
你們要敬畏安拉,和平共處,倘若你們是信仰者,便要順從安拉和他的使者。
They ask thee concerning the spoils of war. Say, "The spoils belong to Allah and the Messenger. So fear Allah, and set things right among yourselves, and obey Allah and His Messeger, if you are believers."
[8 : 18] 要記著:你們沒有殺死他們敵人,而是安拉殺死了他們。當你拋擲石頭時,其實,你並沒拋擲,而是安拉拋擲的,結果,他藉此賜與信仰者仁慈的試驗。安拉確是全聽的,全知的。
So you killed them not, but it was Allah Who killed them. And thou threwest not when thou didst throw, but it was Allah Who threw, that He might overthrow the disbelievers and that He might confer on the believers a trial from Himself—a goodly trial—Surely, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
「安拉比人更接近他的心」(Allah comes in between a man and his heart) 這句話意指,人類 (或他自己) 不能控制他們的心靈,因此不能使他的心靈受他的支配,這句話也意味著人們應該趕快聆聽和回應安拉的呼喚,因為如果延遲而不這麼做的話,不能預見的種種情況可能介入,使他們的心靈應話或生鏽,然後不肯聽從安拉的呼喚。
[8 : 30] 信仰的人阿!如果你們敬畏安拉,我將賜給你們辨別是非真偽的東西,消除你們的弱點,寬恕你們,安拉確是極為恩寵的主宰。
O ye who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you a distinction and will remove your evils from you and will forgive you; and Allah is Lord of great bounty.
[8 : 40] 要與那些不信者繼續戰鬥,直到迫害終止,而宗教將完全地只是為了安拉的。如果他們停止,安拉確是看著他們的行動的。
And fight them until there is no persecution and religion is wholly for Allah. But if they desist, then surely Allah is Watchful of what they do.
[8 : 42] 要知道,凡你們所獲得的戰利品,其中五分之一是安拉、使者、使者近親、孤兒、窮人和旅行者的,如果你們信仰安拉和我,在使真相分明的那一天——兩軍交戰的那一天——降賜我的使者的啟示,那麼,就要遵守實踐!安拉對於每一事物都是大力的。
And know that whatever you takes as spoils in war, a fifth thereof shall go to Allah and to the Messenger and to the kindred and orphans and the needy and the wayfarer, if you believe in Allah and in what We send down to Our servant, on the Day of Distinction—the day when the two armies met—and Allah has the power to do all things.
[8 : 46] 信仰的人啊!當你們和不信者的任何軍隊交鋒時,要穩定步伐,多多紀念安拉,以便你們成功。
O ye who believe! When you encounter an army, remain first, and remember Allah much that you may prosper.
[8 : 47] 要常常服從安拉和他的使者,不要發生分歧,否則你們便會氣餒,你們的戰鬥力便要消失。你們得要堅定,安拉確是同著堅定者的。
And obey Allah and His Messenger anddispute not with one another, lest you falter and your power depart from you. And be steadfast; surely, Allah is with the steadfast.
[8 : 68] 只有在戰爭狀況中,先知才應該俘虜敵人。如果你們在非正式戰爭中俘虜敵人,你們便會被認為圖謀世俗財富之人,殊不知願你們得後世的恩惠。安拉是優勝者,全智者。
It does not behove a Prophet that he should have captives until he engages in regular fighting in the land. You desire the goods of the world, while Allah desires for you the hereafter. And Allah is Mighty, Wise.
The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and for those employed in connection therewith, an for those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and for the freeing of slaves, and for those in debt, and for the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer—an ordinance from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, Wise. [9 : 60]
And as forthe foremost among the believers, the first of the emigrants and the Helpers, and those who followed then in the best possible manner, Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him; and he has prepared for them Gardens beneath which flows rivers. They will abide therein for ever. That is the supreme triumph. [9 : 100]
[9 : 112] 凡是悔罪自新者、崇拜安拉者、讚頌安拉者、為主道旅行者、鞠躬者、叩頭者、勸善者、止惡者、和固守安拉的法度者,你向所有這樣的信者傳達喜訊吧。
They are the ones who turn to God in repentance, who worship Him, who praise Him, who go about in the land serving Him, who bow down to God, who prostrate themselves in prayer, who enjoin good and forbid evil, and who watch the limits set by Allah. And give glad tidings to those who believe.
[9 : 122] 信仰者當然不能都外出受到宗教教育,但為什麼從他們每一團體中沒有出來一部分人,以便它們對宗教獲得更好的了解,而後歸回自己的民族,警醒他們缺乏宗教素養,好叫他們懼怕迷誤呢?
it is not possible for the believers to go forth all together. Why, then, does not a party from every section of them go forth that they may become well versed in religion, and that they may warn their people when they return to them, so that they may guard against evil?
[7 : 3] 這部【古蘭經】是你受降的一部偉大經典,而不是你杜撰的,你的胸中不要因此產生任何煩悶。
其下降的目的是:你用它向聽眾警告將來的懲罰,它【古蘭經】是信仰的人的提醒者。
This is a Book revealed into thee——so let there be no straitness in thy bosom concerning it——
that thou mayest warn thereby, and thatit be an exhortation to the believers.
[7: 53] 我賜予了他們一部偉大的經典。我依照知識,把它詳加說明,它是對信仰的人的指導和仁慈。
And surely We have brought them a Book which We have expounded with knowledge, a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe.

[7 : 20] 「不要接近那棵受禁的樹,否則,你們將成為不義的人。」
"Approach not this tree least you be among the wrongdoers."
[7 : 25] 於是安拉說:「你們都要離開這裡,你們將要互相為敵。在大地上有你們暫時的居住所和一個時期的供應品。」
He said, "Go forth, some of you being enemies of others. And for you there is an abode on the earth and a provision for a time."
「敬畏者的衣服是最好的衣服。」(The raiment of righteousness—that is the best.)
阿丹在「樂園」中遮蓋他「隱私的地方」的正是那敬畏的衣服。 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[7 : 26] 安拉又說:「你們將在地上生活、在地上死亡,並從地中被取出來。」
He said, "Therein shall you live and therein shall you die, and therefrom shall you be brought forth."
稱為Shaitan (الشَّيْطَنُ) (惡魔) 的邪惡的精神實在物和他一類的那些,一般是肉眼看不到的( 7:28- Truly he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you see them not)。他們不知不覺地對人類施加影響,並尋找人類內藏的弱點,為的是是人類走上邪道。安拉創造惡魔只是為了考驗人們——惡魔在人類參加的精神競賽中,扮演跨欄的作用,跨欄不是用來堵住參賽者,而是為了要使賽跑中的競爭者更加警惕,並加倍努力。那些不小心和疏忽在跨欄上絆了腳的,在比賽中就輸了。他們只能責怪自己,而不能責怪在他們道上設置那些跨欄來試驗和證實他們勇氣的人。
[7 : 32] 要吃喝,但不要過度,因為安拉不喜歡過度的人。 Eat and drink but exceed not the bounds; surely, He does love those who exceed the bounds.
[7 : 44] 我將排除他們胸中的積怨,在他們那裡將河水長流。他們將說:「只有安拉才是值得一切讚揚的,他指示我們這個樂園的道路。假如安拉不指示我們道路,我們永遠不會獲得它。我們的養主確已給我們帶來了真理。」他們將聽到高聲的宣言:「這就是你們由於自己的行為而繼承的樂園。」
And We shall remove whatever rancour may be in their hearts. Beneath them shall flow rivers. And they shall say, "All praise belongs to Allah Who has guided us to this. And we could not have found guidance, if Allah had not guided us. The Messengers of our Lord did indeed bring the truth." And it shall be proclaimed unto them: "This is the Heaven which you have been given for an inheritance as a reward for what you used to do."
[10 : 65] 他們將從安拉那裡獲得今後兩世的喜訊,安拉的言語不會有改移的,這的確是一個即大的成功。
For them are glad tidings in the present life and also in the Hereafter—there is no changing the words of Allah; that indeed is the supreme triumph.
[41 : 32] 在今世和後世,我們都是你們的朋友。在那裡你們將獲得你們自己願望的,在那裡你們將獲得你們自己所求的。
We are your friends in this life and in the Hereafter. Therein you will have all that your souls will desire, and therein you will have all that you will ask for.
[7 : 55] 你們的養主確是安拉,他在六個時期內創造了諸天和大地,然後穩固地奠定了帝位。
Surely, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six periods; then He settled Himself on the Throne.
[23 : 147] 安拉是崇高的,真正具有主權者。除他以外,再沒有值得崇拜的對象,他是光榮地位的養主。
Exalted then be Allah, the True King. There is no god but He, the Lord of the Glorious Throne.
[7 : 57] 不要在大地有了治安之後製造混亂,要以懼怕和希望的心情呼求他安拉。安拉的仁慈確是接近善者的。
Andcreate not disorder in the earth after it has been set in order, and call upon Him in fear and hope.urely, the mercy of Allah is nigh unto those who do good.

[7 : 158] 論到他們跟從的這位使者——不認字的先知,在他們的摩西五經和福音書有關他的記載,他命他們行善,止他們作惡,把一切美好的東西都為他們定為合法的,禁止他們一切壞的東西,解除他們所背負的重擔和套在頸上的枷鎖。凡是信從這位使者、增強他的力量、幫助他的事業、跟隨降給他光輝的人,才將是成功者。
"Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the unlettered one, whom they find mentioned in the Torah and the Injil which are with them. he enjoins on them good and forbids them evil, and makes lawful for them the good things and forbids them the bad, and remove from them their burden and the shackles that were upon them So those who shall believe in him, and honour and support him, and help him, and follow the light that has been sent down with him—these shall prosper."
[7 : 159] 你們要信仰安拉和他這位不識文字的使者,這位使者信仰安拉和他的言語,你們要服從他,以便獲得正道。
Believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Prophet, the unlettered one, who believes in Allah and His words; and follow him that you may be rightly guided.
[29 : 49] 你在這 【古蘭經】下降之前,未曾讀任何書籍,也未曾用右手寫字,果然你會寫讀書寫字,那麼,誣指【古蘭經】是謊言的人會將獲得懷疑的裡由。
Andthou didst not recite any Book before it, nor didst thou write one with thy right hand; in that case the liars would have doubted. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[7 : 159] 你說:「人類啊!我是為你們全體,從安拉來的使者,他是天地的主宰。」
Say, "O mankind! Truly I am a Messenger to you all from Allah to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.
And when thy Lord brings forth from Adam's children—out of their loins—their offspring and makes them witnesses against their own selves by saying; "Am I not your Lord?" The say, "Yea, we do bear witness." This He does lest you should say no the Day of Resurrection, "We were surely unaware of this." [7 : 174]
Magic is an old human practice. It is sometimes defined as deception by
showing something to an audience, which is contrary to reality. In Islam this is part of magic, which is, however, defined as
seeking the help of demons to perform something harmful against somebody.
In the light of the above definition, Islam
considers magic to be an act of blasphemy. Thus, the Holy Quran say:
"Suleiman (Solomon) did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved
teaching men magic" (2:102)
In an authentic saying, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) said: Whoever goes to a fortune teller (a soothe sayer) or a
diviner and believes him, has, in fact, disbelieved in what has been revealed
to Muhammad.
Thus Islam condemns magic, even what is called
the horoscope or luck or reading one's palm to foretell the future is also
prohibited in Islam. This is based on the belief that no one knows
the future or the unseen except God almighty. That is why the Quran asserts
that even Muhammad does not know the unseen. Concerning this, it says:
"If I had the knowledge of the unseen, I should have secured
abundance for myself, and no evil would have touched me"(7:188). Again, God is described in the Quran
as the knower of the unseen and the manifest (6:73) and as the holder of the keys of the unseen (6:59).
In another tradition, Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) says: "Avoid the
seven deadly acts which are:
(1) Ascribing partners to God,
(2) Magic,
(3) Killing the human self which Allah prohibited except with right,
(4) Eating usury,
(5) Devouring the orphan's wealth,
(6) Defecting from the battle-field (without a justified reason)
(7) Slandering chaste, unwary believing women.
Thus Islam has closed the door for practicing
magic, simply because it is against its teachings, and it is deceptive and
harmful. There are some of the verses of the Holy Quran that refer
to magic: In Surat Baqara Ayat 102-103, the Quran says:
"And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah confirming what
was with them, a party of those who were given the scripture threw away the
book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know. And they followed
what the devils gave out falsely of magic of the reign of Solomon; for Solomon
did not disbelieve but the devils disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to
the two angels Harut and Marut, but neither of these two (angles) taught anyone
(such things) until they had said: we are only for trial, so don't disbelieve.
And from them(magicians) people learn that through
which they would cause separation between a person and his spouse, but they
could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave; and now they learn that which harms them rather than profits them.
And indeed they knew that its practitioner would have no share in the
Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves if
they but knew" (2:102-3).
Although Solomon was the Prophet and Messenger of God, he was accused by
some of his opponents to be practicing magic. Those
who claimed this could not distinguish between magic and miracles. Almost all messengers of God were granted miracles as a proof
of their authenticity. To name only a few: Moses was granted the
staff by which he could divide the sea and make water gush from rocks. Abraham
was flung in the middle of a huge raging fire, which Allah made cool and
peaceful to him. Jesus Christ could heal the blind and the leper and bring back
the dead to life.
If we contemplate these acts we find that miracles
are totally different from magic. While magic
is always harmful, miracles are useful.Magic
is from devils while miracles are from God. When these divine
miracles are rejected other miracles are imposed to inflict severe punishments
on rejecters. On the other hand, miracles are real
while magic is sometimes deceptive.
It may be said that the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.)
was himself exposed to the effect of magic. How could you explain
this? This is true; but God saved him from the spell
of magic through the repeated remembrance of God and the recitation of some
chapters and verses of the Holy Quran. This took place to confirm
the humility of Muhammad (S.A.W.W.). who was a human like other humans. This
made it easier for his followers to imitate him. Two questions are pertinent in
context:
●How to protect one's self from magic?
●And how to treat a person under the spell of magic?
Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) provided us with the recipe through which we
can protect ourselves from magic. We shall be immune from magic if we recite the
last three chapters of the Holy Quran, which are number 112, 113 and 114:
Al-Iklas, Al-Falaq, Al-Nas after the five daily prayers.
And here is their translation:
●Al-Iklas (Unity)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: He is Allah, the One! Allah, the eternally besought of all!
He begets not nor was begotten.
And there is none comparable unto Him.
●Al-Falaq (Daybreak)
In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
From the evil of that which he created;
From the evil of the darkness when it is intense,
and from the evil of malignant witchcraft,
And from the evil of the envious when he envies.
●Al-Nas (Mankind)
In the name of Allah the beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
The King of mankind,
The God of mankind,
From the evil of the sneaking whisper,
Who whispers in the hearts of mankind,
Of the jinn and of mankind.
These three surats are also recommended to be recited three times after the dawn prayer and three times after the sunset prayer. Secondly
Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.W.) encouraged us to recite the greatest verse in the
Quran called the verse of the Throne, Ayat-ul-Kursi, it is translated as
follows:
"Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, and the Eternal. Neither
slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. Unto Him belongs whatever is in the heavens
and whatever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedes with Him save by His
leave? He knows that which is in front of them and that which is behind them,
while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His chair
encompasses the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving
them. He is the sublime, the Tremendous" (2:255).
This verse should be recited after each and every one of the five daily
prayers and before going to bed.
The Prophet (S.A.W.W.) also encouraged us Muslims to recite the last two ayats
of Surat Baqaraat the beginning of every nightwhose
translation is as follows:
"The Messenger believes in that which has been revealed unto him from
his Lord and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah and His angles
and His scriptures and His messengers and they say: We hear, and we obey.
(Grant us) Your forgiveness, our Lord. Unto you is the journeying" (2:285).
"Allah tasks not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which
it has earned, and against it (only) that which it has deserved. Our Lord!
Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a
burden as you did lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which
we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us.
You are our Patron; so grant us victory over the disbelieving folk"
(2:286).
Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.W.) said: “whoever
recites the last two ayats of the Surat
Baqara, they will suffice him”. This
means that they will protect him from every evil. Again seeking
refuge in Allah and remembering his name is an effective protection against all
evils including magic. Two main supplications are recommended in this respect.
They are:
I seek refuge in the complete words of Allah from the evils of what
He created;
In the name of Allah through whose name nothing on earth or in heaven
can cause any harm.
If these two prayers are recited three times in the beginning of the day
and in the beginning of the night, then no harm or evil will approach the
reciter by the grace of Allah (S.W.T).
